Foreign Aces

Paul Crockett (Voice of Beyond Wrestling), "The Choice" Christopher Cornwell Boyce, and Matt Camp (Host of Busted Open/Voice of House of Hardcore) primarily cover NJPW from both the industry and fan perspective. The absurdity of fantasy booking is a regular topic, as the guys will often work your favorite WCW Monday Nitro midcarders into current storylines. From time to time, the show will include interviews with some biggest and fast-rising stars in the world. Names like Keith Lee, War Machine/Raiders, Switchblade Jay White, Rocky Romero, Roppongi 3K, and Chase Owens have appeared on past shows. You'll also get plenty of coverage of ROH, WWE NXT, and promotions from around the world. If you listen closely, you might even catch a hint or two about major news in the wrestling world with both Crockett and Camp having plenty of connections.

    Tanahashi Rides...

The Choice continues to look for his Jim Crockett Cup partner, so it's Paul Crockett and Matt Camp talking the Giant Baba Memorial Show, which featured quite a mix of New Japan, AJPW, Big Japan, and other wrestlers from every big company in Japan. Somehow that transitions into Undertaker's match with Hakushi into Taker appearing at Starrcast into ways NJPW stars can appear on local NY radio to promote the MSG including Tanahashi joining the Howard Stern show and riding the...machine in the studio. Iizuka had his retirement show and it was...something. The Iron Fingers went to the wrong person. It's another quick preview of Honor Rising and ways potential G1 Supercard matches could develop. Plus, The Institute is no more! Ibushi comments on that and his decision to sign with NJPW and not AEW. This is some kind of show.

  2. Thumb 1550207880 artwork

    Sandwiches and Knives

The guys are all back together for a jam-packed show. Obviously, there's plenty of discussion about Jay White's IWGP Title victory over Tanahashi. Was it a total surprise? A look back over the last year shows how NJPW built The Switchblade and why they were able to pivot to him from original plans that featured Okada/Omega at MSG. So who will face White at MSG? The NJ Cup is discussed, including Ibushi's increased chances of winning/main event push now that he's officially under contract with New Japan. There's also a review of everything that went down on all The New Beginning cards and a look ahead to notable future matches, included an extensive look at weird, but fun Honor Rising cards. There's some AEW talk after a sellout of Double or Nothing and Val Venis' AJPW run?!

Switchblade Jay White Interview (Throwback from May 2018)

In honor of his IWGP Heavyweight Championship victory over Tanahashi, check out this interview Paul Crockett conducted in May of 2018 during the Global Wars tour in Lowell, MA. This is just five months into the Switchblade character, so you can see how it started and how far White has come in the last year.

    Kojima's American Sponsor

With The Choice scouting for NXT Japan, Crockett and Camp take you through all the New Beginning happenings in both America and Japan. Camp provides his thoughts on Kushida's farewell, NXT TakeOver, and the Royal Rumble. That leads into a discussion of how characters are coming back around with so much good wrestling available everywhere. Where should NJPW go with the NJ Cup? Timing would line up with making the winner the top contender for The Garden. AEW just announced new talent and agreements, so what does that mean for potential working relationships? Finally, we get MULTIPLE Kojima Twitter updates and an offer from Camp.

  5. Thumb 1548993228 artwork

    Matt Camp's Day Off

KUSHIDA is gone from NJPW and we have all the details of his last match against Tanahashi. The New Beginning kicked off in the USA, and we discuss the upcoming show in Japan. Plus, news on NOAH's new owners, KENTA returning to Japan, Takeover, the Royal Rumble and where will Dean Ambrose go?

  6. Thumb 1548398545 artwork

    No Visas Needed

Don't worry about your visa because you won't need it for this show. We address the NJPW US cards. Are they underwhelming? Are you disappointed in what happened? The guys examine what happened with the visa issues for the Japanese talent and if the company is to blame and/or the government shutdown deserves the majority of the blame. Is this more about the company having little direction in the United States? KUSHIDA's farewell match with Tanahashi is coming at a Road to New Beginning show. Guess who isn't excited? We check in on Kojima's Twitter account and create his own version of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with...Otis Dozovic?! Finally, the guys present their dream final four for this weekend's Royal Rumble.

  7. Thumb 1547790860 artwork

    This Episode is Too Long

In a mostly quiet week for NJPW (other than FantasticaMania!), the guys open the show with a look at the NXT Takeover Liverpool show including differing thoughts on Balor/Devlin, plenty of praise for the tag match, future expectations for RIpley/Storm, and a very long main even that was saved by a large German man making his fantastic debut. Camp reacts to more news about KUSHIDA including his likely next stop and what KUSHIDA pitched for himself in NJPW. ROH is throwing some serious money around and their latest signing is RUSH, so what's next for exclusive deals? LIFEBLOOD is a thing and so is ROH Tag Wars. That's something, but we take it a step further and book the Paul Crockett Cup.

  8. Thumb 1547186799 artwork

    Time Splitting Around the World

The guys are back together to give their thoughts on the AEW rally. They go over the announced roster, how everything was presented, and who else they'd like to see get added to the company. Plus, they address the TV rumors and how that could affect money offered and who that could attract. New Year's Dash didn't have any big surprises, yet some title matches are set up, including TAICHI challenging for the IC Title. This leads to the guys talking about KUSHIDA's exit from NJPW and how baffling it is that his going-away match is vs Tanahashi. Also, find out how SANADA leads us to Gwen Stefani. Wait, what?

  9. Thumb 1546607667 artwork

    Wrestle Kingdom 13 Post-Game Show

The guys are back together for an immediate reaction to Wrestle Kingdom 13. They discuss the speed of the show, how it affected the early matches, and why the results still made sense. The show clearly picked up over the last three matches, including the appearances of Jay White and Okada. Jericho/Naito was another example of a proper blow-off, but was it better than expected? The main event's result was in question, yet a return to glory seemed to make sense. Who is the next challenger and what will we learn at New Year's Dash?

  10. Thumb 1546500094 artwork

    The Wrestle Kingdom 13 Hotline

With The Choice preparing for his Tokyo Dome debut, Camp and Crockett take you through the Wrestle Kingdom 13 card including a debate on Ospreay/Ibushi opening the show. They also discuss the buzz on the show and how it will be received to both hardcore and casual fans. The guys talk about the passing of Mean Gene with some examples of how great he was and some fun promos featuring Meng and...Natural Born Thrillaz?! Of course, we get a lot more on All Elite Wrestling and what could be coming in the next week and in the future.

  11. Thumb 1545981333 artwork

    The Stone Pitbull Awards

The Choice is preparing for his role as the CHAOS mole, so Camp and Crockett take you through the year-end awards including best match (NJPW and non-NJPW), wrestler of the year, tag team of the year, show of the year, most underappreciated star, breakout star, and moment of the year. They also talk about the creative process in NJPW vs WWE vs NXT and how organic means everything. Plus, Tanahashi's thoughts on how his alliance with Okada was handled, THE FUCKING BOMB is a champion, and much more. We'll be back next week a day earlier for our WrestleKingdom show and very likely lots of big, ELITE news to discuss,.

  12. Thumb 1545360140 artwork

    The Ibushi-Ospreay Moment

The boys are back to discuss their live take on ROH Final Battle, the Golden Lovers vs Tanahashi & Ospreay match which included THE MOMENT! Plus, the teams in the NEVER Gauntlet, where do Chase Owens & Yujiro Takahashi go next, and which WCW superstar does Brandi Rhodes most reflect? All that and more on this edition!

  13. Thumb 1544773205 artwork

    The Polar Ice Cats

We have World Tag League Champs....and it doesn't matter. Lots of fallout both expected and unexpected from the World Tag League finals show, including Makabe and Yano back together. Will Ospreay took another step towards the heavyweight division by having a great match with...Taichi? It wasn't a memorable match, but we have takeaways from the eight-man tag featuring the Young Bucks, Marty Scurll, and Kenny Omega. If you were looking for the teams for the NEVER OPENWEIGHT SIX-MAN TAG TEAM TITLES #1 CONTENDERSHIP GAUNTLET WORLD WAR 6 INTERGENDER CHALLENGE, we have you covered. It's a program!

  14. Thumb 1544161705 artwork

    NXT: Alaska

The guys talk about the life of Dynamite Kid (the good and the bad), which quickly morphs into a discussion of who best represents current tag team wrestling. That leads to the obligatory World Tag League update including predictions both real and fantastical. We appear to be on a (literal) crash course to Ibushi vs Ospreay at the Dome, but what if Ospreay isn't ready? What if Ibushi needs someone to fight the evil out of him? Suzuki-Gun. ICHIBAN. After we hinted about it months ago, there appears to be legs to the KUSHIDA to WWE rumors, so the guys try to book NXT Japan. This show is a bit off the rails, so hopefully you enjoy it.

  15. Thumb 1544058835 artwork

BONUS EPISODE - "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright (from 2017)

From October 2017, Paul Crockett chats with "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright about growing up in the wrestling business, his time in World Championship Wrestling (including being ribbed by Malenko & Guerrero), why he chose not to go with WWE, competing in the 1995 Best of the Super Junior Tournament and his current wrestling school (The Wright Stuff) and promotion (New European Championship Wrestling)!

  16. Thumb 1543555304 artwork

    The All Elite Draft

The boys are back together to try to figure out the World Tag League and how to make it entertaining. You may have missed it, but New Japan tossed away Okada and Tanahashi tagging together for the first time. Should that have been saved for more? It appears NJPW is focusing on European expansion and getting TV deals. That could be a better focus than America, which leads us to the NXT UK deals and who is allowed to work where. Finally, we have our All Elite Wrestling Fantasy Draft! Five rounds of unsigned talent who should join AEW.

  17. Thumb 1543003938 artwork

    All Ace Wrestling

With The Choice preparing for his WrestleMania weekend match with Nick Gage, Camp and Crockett talk All Elite Wrestling, the World Tag League, Goto/Ibushi, and what should be Ibushi/Ospreay at the dome. How viable is a new promotion in 2019? Would New Japan have any working relationship and does NJPW need The Elite or vice versa? The wrestling scene will look a lot different in 2019, so the guys talk about how things will change and if NXT: Insert Country Here will be the replacement for the independents in five years.

  18. Thumb 1542347846 artwork

Interview with former NJPW Director of U.S. Operations George Carroll

The guys are all back together to interview George Carroll, who spent time in a backstage role in Ring of Honor and more importantly as the NJPW Director of U.S. Operations until the end of 2017. He explains how he was brought into New Japan and his responsibilities with the company. That includes how the United States Title was introduced and the lack of a plan after the tournament for the direction of the title. Plus, we get into why NJPW didn't really have a plan for American expansion and why George was ready to do more if they gave him the green light to do so. George also goes into further detail on the official NJPW podcast that was supposed to be hosted by Camp and Crockett in addition to other plans that should have happened for additional expansion. George gives his thoughts on how NJPW could improve their American footprint, including better ways to work with ROH. We close the show with a discussion of the rumored new promotion and breakout stars for 2019.

  19. Thumb 1541742381 artwork

    91 Matches to FreeDome

With The Choice M.I.A., Camp and Crockett kick off the show trying to figure out why Nick Jackson made such flippant comments about New Japan and not working the World Tag League. They transition into a quick discussion about a Power Struggle, which felt like a show that was just there. However, that leads to Crockett quizzing Camp on the history of the European Title. Where does NJPW go with the NEVER title and Goto/Ospreay/Ibushi, if anywhere? The World Tag League teams and format is covered. Yikes. The big news of the week is Tetsuya Naito turning down a WWE offer, but were there others? Also, TAKA got into some hot water.

Camp got lost in Parts Unknown so Paul & Chris discuss: Power Struggle Preview Super Junior Tag Tournament A Mole inside CHAOS? Okada & Tanahashi handshake and Omega's Twitter reaction Paul travelling to Long Island for WWR and Chris' reaction to that show and watching Beyond on Wednesday

    National Choice Alliance

Crockett and Camp have to roll without The Choice since he's on the Jericho Cruise...or do they? Some updates on the Super Jr. Tag League including why it's tough to get into it and how it's a bad time to introduce new wrestlers. Power Struggle is a week away, but Will Ospreay is out. However, could this be a sleeper card much like last year's Power Struggle? The Okada Cruise happened this week, but what if it became an event with actual attractions? New Japan's gif policy is addressed and it's another problem for the new regime. Much of the story on the Jericho/JR wrestling promotion was proven false, but what if we told you where there's smoke, there's fire? Finally, a Crockett and Camp share their interactions with Adam Cole and that turns into the six-month saga of Camp and...Ric Flair? Did Camp work for TNA? What was Ric Flair's drink of choice? This is some show.

  22. Thumb 1539976930 artwork

    The Billionaire Bread Club

This show takes quite a turn at the end. The guys stick to the plan with a discussion of the Super Junior Tag League and how guys like Shingo Takagi and Robbie Eagles are fitting in. Then, we get our first official Tama Tonga Twitter Update, which includes plenty of real and storyline comments about Ibushi, The Elite, BCOGs, Dave Meltzer, and of course, Cody. Should Tama and the BCOGs be thankful for the worldwide recognition Bullet Club has received from The Elite or should they be mad about getting cut out of a lot of things? The show transitions into a review of the outstanding OTT 4th Anniversary show featuring an extended Satoshi Kojima Twitter update and why Will Ospreay is ready to be the top babyface and wrestler in the world. A short discussion about the Wrestling All-Star Battle show and potential matches gets cut short by major breaking news. Is there a new wrestling promotion coming in the next 12-16 months? How involved are Chris Jericho and JR? What about Cody and The Bucks? Camp and Crockett share some inside info including some obvious clues that were missed over the last two months. It's arguably the biggest story of the wrestling year and you can get much more on it from this show.

  23. Thumb 1539317840 artwork

    SlingBlade Club

After an angle-filled King of Pro Wrestling show, the guys are back to discuss everything and there's a lot of disagreement. Even though KOPW is one of the biggest NJPW shows of the year, the biggest stories coming out of the show were about the angles, not the in-ring product. Jay White is part of the BCOGs, Okada saved Tanahashi, Chris Jericho returned to attack EVIL, and we have new member of LIJ and a tag partner for Taiji Ishimori. The guys also address Dave Meltzer's report of unhappiness of NJPW wrestlers and Tama Tonga's retort in addition to Cody/Tama's back and forth on Twitter. Oh, and there's a Jr. Tag League Tournament starting next week. It's a jam-packed show and somehow, we get NJPW Groundhog Day booked in the middle of it all.

  24. Thumb 1538713211 artwork

    King of Western Pro Wrestling

The Choice is back from his auditions to be the next full time member of Los Ingobernables de Japon (or BCOG), so he joins Crockett and Camp to talk about the happenings from Fighting Spirit Unleashed. The guys discuss their feelings on the King of Pro Wrestling triple threat main event and read your Twitter reaction. They preview the entire card and explain why the show doesn't have a big feel. Finally, if it's not The Choice, who will be joining LIJ and the Firing Squad. You know there are plenty of very real and very fake options covered in the conversation. Also, will Paul happily die at the hands of Haku?

  25. Thumb 1538160950 artwork

    Breathe with the CHAOS

While The Choice tries to hitchhike to Strong Style Unleased, Crockett and Camp talk about Gedo turning on Okada to side with Switchblade. Does this move open the door for two Chaos stables and a bigger spotlight on lesser members? In case you didn't know, Strong Style Unleashed is this weekend in Long Beach. Okada and Tanahashi had similar statements about how NJPW is addressing their American shows. What is New Japan's plan for America? Do they need more New Japan flavor in their U.S. shows? A full show preview and much more in this episode.

Omega vs. Tanahashi Rap Battle/Filthy Tom Lawlor Interview

The boys are back to discuss the back-and-forth between Omega and Tanahashi and potential directions for the Tokyo Dome. They hit the Destruction Tour main events including another amazing performance out of Ishii. Is his ability to have a great, cold match with anyone a detriment to his career? We have a new NEVER Openweight Champion and it's not good. We also have a fun interview with Filthy Tom Lawlor, who discusses a variety of subjects including a certain BOMB in Japan. Are there new members coming to LIJ and the Firing Squad?

    September 14, 2018 - New Japan Gladiators

In what seemed like an off week of sorts, New Japan gave us a helluva tag match on the Road to Destruction Tour. We talk about that and the potential of Will Ospreay moving to heavyweight. Of course, we had to celebrate Kojima's return to the ring and birthday with a proper Twitter update. Evolve and Beyond's Josh Briggs sits down with Paul Crockett to discuss his time at the L.A. New Japan Dojo and experience with Shibata. Somehow we transition into Matt Camp being followed by the American Gladiators Twitter account and how we'd cast New Japan Gladiators. Oh, and New Japan has a YouTube show called "The Wire" so you can guess what happened next.

After the success of last week's interview with Kevin Kelly, we're back with a "normal" episode discussing All In including the ramifications of the show, what happens with the NWA if Cody wins, and is there more to a deal with WGN? We think so, which is why we book ROH Saturday Night,. Plus, Marufuji/KENTA (Hideo Itami) is happening this weekend. Does that mean NXT Japan/205 NOAH is coming next? Also, we cover the commentator change for Fighting Spirit Unleashed. It's an After Dark episode, so you know what that means.
